Lakeway's Dark Skies code favors warm, shielded light that dims late at night. We start every Lakeway design with that in mind.

How it works
Local rules
Lakeway adopted Dark Skies regulations in 2023. The city's summary says new outdoor lighting should be shielded, use lamps under 3000 K, and, on residential property, be dimmed at least 30% or turned off from midnight until an hour before daylight.
The same city page lists low-intensity light strings and ornamental lighting as exempt. We haven't confirmed whether a permanent eave system qualifies as ornamental. Ask the City of Lakeway and your POA before you plan late-night color.

This is a plain-language summary of public documents as of Oct 11, 2026. It isn't legal advice, and Starie's makes no promise about compliance. Rules change, so confirm the current requirements with the city before you install.
Lakeway property owners' associations and architectural committees review exterior lighting. Get their approval along with any city requirements.

Local notes
Lake Travis borders Lakeway, and it's one of the LCRA reservoirs on the Colorado River. Homes that face the water usually have long rooflines, and owners often want an everyday look that holds up when seen from across the lake.

Pixel Dancer app
For Lakeway, a common starting point is a warm white preset at reduced brightness, with a scheduled off time that matches the city rules described above. Check with the city before choosing your settings.
Pixel Dancer doesn't offer custom zones or control of individual lights. The whole run changes together.
FAQ
The city's Dark Skies summary says residential outdoor lighting should be dimmed at least 30% or turned off from midnight until an hour before daylight. It also lists exemptions for some ornamental lighting. Confirm with the city how that applies to your system. Pixel Dancer's scheduler can handle a midnight change either way.
Pixel Dancer can show holiday colors. Whether and when you can run them is covered by the city's code and your POA, so check with both first.
